Principal's Welcome
Dear Tubman Families,
On behalf of the staff at Harriet Tubman Village Charter, I am happy to welcome you to the 2024-25 school year! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our student leaders can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our student leaders need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your student leader’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our student leaders' success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your student leaders learning by ensuring that they:
- Attend school daily and arrive on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
- Complete all homework assignments given by teachers
- Read daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
- Share school experiences with you so that you are aware of their school life
- Inform you if they need additional support in any area or subject
Here are a few things to keep in mind to make for a successful start to the school year:
Back to School BBQ, Thursday, August 8th 4:00-6:00pm
Our traditional back to school BBQ is scheduled for Thursday, 8/8/24, from 4:00-6:00pm. This will be a great opportunity for you and your student leader(s) to meet their teachers, meet our staff, enjoy food and have fun! The mandatory ELOP Meeting will be from 5:15-5:45pm in the Auditorium.
Uniform
For the 2024-25 school year, student leaders will be allowed to dress in the school uniform or free dress. We will still have designated spirit wear dress days that will be communicated via Class Dojo and Text.
Backpacks
For the 2024-25 school year, backpacks still need to be CLEAR or of mesh material. We will sell some at the Back to School BBQ.
Breakfast
For the 2024-25 school year, breakfast will be served from 8:10am-8:25am only.
TK-3rd Drop-off & Pick-Up
For the 2024-25 school year, student leaders TK-3rd grade will be dropped off and picked up on Mohawk ST. Doors will open at 8:10am for arrival. Please do not leave your student leaders outside before we open the doors, there will be no supervision until 8:10am. Dismissal will begin at 2:55 M,T,Th & F and at 12:55 on W. Please stay in your car and a staff will radio for your student to come out.
4th-8th Drop-off & Pick-Up
For the 2024-25 school year, student leaders 4th-8th grade will be dropped off and picked up on Saranac ST. Gates will open at 8:10am for arrival. Please do not leave your student leaders outside before we open the gates, there will be no supervision until 8:10am. Dismissal will begin at 2:55 M,T,Th & F and at 12:55 on W. Please stay in your car and a staff will radio for your student to come out.
First Day of School, Wednesday, August 14th
Classes begin on Wednesday, 8/14/24, at 8:30am. The first week is all minimum days; Students are dismissed each day at 1:00pm. We will go back to our normal schedule the week of August 19th.
